and Alexei Borisov, N&B Research Digest is a CD-R label from
Finland dedicated to preserving sonic experiments from the Industrial
tundra.
‘Geologists and Professional Tourists’ (NBRD-01 CD-R) is a collection
of experimental electronica from Helsinki, Moscow and Brussels,
and features the ‘transcendental Gabber’ of the compilers,

Reviews:"’Pilottilasit – Samples from Helsinki Underground
1981-1987’ (NBRD-02 CD-R) is an intermittently stunning document
of rusting darkness from the age of cassette culture. The stars
of the show
are probably Swissair, who conjure an air of grim, metallic desolation
from treble-less guitars, metronomic drum machines and grinding
gear sparks. Film maker and member of Swissair Mika Taanila
and HS Tuominen transplant the slack key guitar from Hawaii’s tropical
paradise to Karelia’s high lonesome plain on ‘Five Easy Pieces For
Do-a-loop’, while Taanila and Ferricjohnsson prove that
the gang isn’t all austere librarians by submerging the ghost of
HipHop under layers of guitar drone." (Peter Shapiro, The Wire
204, February 2001)
2000/2001)
F.R.U.I.T.S.: Studio Recordings Vol.1
1. Raspberry's Puree
2. Lemon Skin
3. Public Papier Maché
4. Blue Rice
Composed and played by F.R.U.I.T.S. duo (P. Jagun and A. Borisov)
Recorded and mixed by F.R.U.I.T.S. and Oleg Salkhov (SNC Studio,
Moscow) 1992-1993
Reviews:"Das russische Duo F.R.U.I.T.S. nahm diese
Arschkrampenrock, chaotischer Jazz-Duelle,
amateurhaftes Elektrogeknatter - für jeden ist etwas dabei.
Erschreckend offenherzig." (Till Kniola, Auf Abwegen #30, Winter
2000/2001)
"Arkhivnaya zapis vypushchena na CD-R-leible, kotoryi osnoval
v Helsinki Anton Nikkilä, kollega odnogo iz Fruktov, Alexeya Borisova
(sm. yego spetsialnyi material dlya etogo nomera). Duet Alexeya
s Pavlom Jagunom slozhilsya primerno v 1991-m godu i po tem vremenam
predstavlyal soboi bolshe avangard, chem klubnuyu elektronnuyu muzyku.
Eto teper oni narezayut tekhno i elektro (kak bylo, naprimer, na
prezentatsii nashego zhurnala), a v nachale 90-h oni sozdavali i
izdavali chisteishiy shum. Podobnyi tandem mozhno bylo predskazat,
uchityvaya to, chto Borisov uzhe imel opyt pionera rossiiskogo indastriala,
a Pavel nabil ruku na sochinenii tekstov pop-artistam (urovnya Pugachyovoi)
i prodyusirovanii takogo kollektiva, kak Moralnyi kodeks. Professionalnaya
rabota v oblasti pop-muzyki provociruyet na eksperimenty. I eti
eksperimenty v sluchaye s F.R.U.I.T.S. okazalis bolee chem radikalny.
Chetyre treka prodolzhitelnostyu ot 14 do 20 minut yavlyayutsya
nastoyashchimi noiz-syuitami. Sochinyaya ikh, avtory vovse ne namerevalis
shokirovat slushatelei, kak eto chasto byvalo v sluchaye so mnogimi
shumovikami. Skoree tvorchestvo rannego F.R.U.I.T.S.– eto popytka
po-akademicheski osmyslit prirodu elektronnogo zvuka, kotoryi v
predstavlennyh trekakh dueta mnozhitsya na beskonechnoye chislo
sostavlyayushchikh. Eti zvuki poyavlyayutsya iz
niotkuda, nepredskazuyemo vidoizmenyayutsya i izchezayut takzhe
spontanno v nikuda. P.S. Kompoziciya ‘Raspberry’s Puree’ mozhet
byt izvestna nekotorym starym video- i melomanam po zvukovoi dorozhke
mikrofilma ‘F.R.U.I.T.S. Language’, snyatogo Romanom Anikoushinym."
